Thunderbird is a very good choice!
Personally I still prefer Outlook.
I'm currently using Outlook 2007, but I'm going to upgrade to
Outlook/office
2010 very soon.
So I'd say: drop Windows Live Mail! :)

This usually does fix the problem for me. Yes, I do sometimes get this
happening with JAWS 11. I try a few other things first. My first attempt
is to press Control + Home to get to the top of the message, then Insert +
Escape to refresh the page, Then once again Control + Home to make sure it
is at the top of the message, finally Insert + DownArrow to perform a
SayAll. This works about 80% of the time for me.
If that fails, pressing Tab once will place the focus in one of the header
fields. Then I keep pressing Tab until I get to the message body. Then I
can again use the Insert + Escape, Control + Home, Insert + DownArrow to
start reading again.
Even more annoying and non-productive is that occasionally I get into a
situation where when attempting to reply to a message, it acts like it is
working correctly and entering the typed text into the message body.
However, no characters are placed in the message body! I have no idea how
to get around this! Even restarting JAWS does not fix this issue. I have
had to reboot or use NVDA!
All of these problems go away for me if I delete all of the scripts in my
user directory! Even placing the deprecated AnyTime Deluxe scripts that
used to be part of earlier versions of JAWS will make these majorly
annoying
issues happen for me. JAWS 10 works well for me and no longer shows any
issues. Freedom Scientific thinks all of the issues are that my Windows
user profile is corrupted, so I need to delete and recreate my account or
reinstall Windows. I do not have the time or patience to attempt this at
this time just to use JAWS 11.
I recently installed Thunderbird and am currently getting adjusted to it.
I
have not yet figured out how to import all of my saved Windows Live Mail
messages into Thunderbird.

Hi Jim;
Have you tried unloading and restarting Jaws when this happens? I know
this
is not a fix but, I'm just curious if doing this will help. I have
encountered times that when I open an email Jaws reads nothing and
unloading / reloading Jaws will stop the issue for the time being,
anyway.
Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

Hi all, I am running windows 7 and jaws 11, latest update, on a 64 bit
machine.
Lately, when I open an email in windows live mail, Jaws says, contains
one
link, and then nothing. I try the jaws curser, and still nothing. In
earlier
versions of jaws 11, it would read messages at least. How can I get an
earlier version of jaws to install? It keeps saying, when I try to do
that,
that an earlier version of this product is installed, and this version
cannot be installed. I'm trying to roll back to jaws 11.1134.
I've written to FS, and they say they are working on the problem. That's
great, but I'd like to read my email now. smile. thanks for your help.
Jim.
