Following the "line" instructions helped a bit.
This got rid of some of the verbiage, however, I hear "paragraph mark" when
using the left/right arrow when reading a document.
By the way, I do not have "Office" just Microsoft word with XP.
Thanks.
Rich

Hello Rich,
You might want to check to see if your "line and paragraphs indication" is
turned off. Use JAWS key with V and type the word "line" (without the
quotes) in the search box. Use down arrow key to the "lines and
paragraphs
indication" and if it is set to anything else but Off then press spacebar
until the Off option is chosen. Tab to the OK button and press spacebar.
The CTRL+Shift+8 keystroke toggles the state of the View All option so if
you used it thinking that the option was active when it wasn't then you
might have checked the option. To make sure it isn't checked, if you are
using Word 2007 or later use Alt followed by H and then use CTRL+right
arrow
until you hear the Bullets button announced. Use tab key to the Show all
button and if it is not checked then press Alt key to leave the menu. If
it
is checked use spacebar to remove the checkmark. In a version of Word
earlier than 2007 go into the tools menu and choose the Options choice.
Go
to the View tab and make sure the Show All checkbox is not checked.
Take care.
Brian Lee

Thanks Mike,
This did not work however.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Rich,
If I remember correctly, press control, shift, +8, on the number row to
turn
off and on
proof reading marks such as the paragraph mark.
HTH
Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Word with too much verbage.
Hi all,
I have XP home and 14.0.
Recently, I opened a document in "microsoft" word to modify it.
Instead of hearing "blank" for blank lines, I heard "paragraph mark".
My sighted wife said the document had dash marks and other symbols
showing,
that did not seem to be in that document in the past.
Could I have altered the settings somewhere? and how can I fix it?
Thanks so much for any help.
Rich
