Well, on my system, I have Enhanced Edit mode checked and phoenetics work
for me when I press Num Pad 5 twice quickly. In fact, I went into
Configuration Manager and changed it several times back and forth and never
lost phonetics. It's very strange that unchecking it brought it back for
you, but if it works, hey--don't fight it! <g>

Subject: Re: [jaws-users] A small problem with JAWS and Outlook Express

This really does seem to be a small problem, but I will explain it again.
My Outlook Express was not reading the letters phonetically when pressing
numpad 5 twice quickly, using JAWS 7.1. This only happened within a message
in OE.
Since I have a bit of a hearing problem, phonetics are important to me.
I found that enhanced edit support was checked, and upon reading the help on
this item, I found that the default says it should be unchecked, as it was
in 7.0.
Now that the item is unchecked, I again hear letters pronounced
phonetically.
I still don't understand what enhanced edit support does.
If no one else has a problem with this item, by all means, leave it alone.
Who can say why JAWS acts differently on different computers?
