I too, have started playing with Jboss and I am very impressed with it so far. Yes,
there are certainly more expensive products out there. Weblogic may seem like driving
a luxury car, but is really any better an Jboss? Orion is certainly a great product
(www.orionserver.com), but at $1500, I find their documentation less adequate the
Jboss. I have read through the installation documentation of JOnAS, the other prime
time, free EJB container, and it is harder to install and configure then Jboss.

Our company is using WebLogic server at the moment.
I have started to look for some cheaper alternatives some
time ago and so I found my way to jBoss.
I must say I am very impressed! The installation is very easy
and so the handling.
The only drawback is the documentation and the somewhat
confusing website.
For example it was not easy to find out how to make
use of self added datasources in the EJBs (you have to modifiy
jboss.xml in the right way).
Nevertheless jBoss is a great product and I want to thank
the jBoss team for this! Please keep your work going on! :-)
