Rick, I told you, that I am able to communicate from
Tomcat 3.2.1 to JBoss (in separate VMs) with ...
You've seen my war-file. 

BTW, when you are back from "some basketball",
please check that you have added 

        <!-- Jdk12Interceptor for JBoss communication -->
        <RequestInterceptor
             className="org.apache.tomcat.request.Jdk12Interceptor"
             debug="99" />

into tomcat server.xml. I remember, it wasn't working without that.
