I have exactly this issue(separate VMs) for tomcat 3.2.1, jboss 2.0 FINAL.
Win 2k machine.
My tomcat was from jarkarta site. It may be the tomcat version.:( but I
haven't touch it for a week...too much over time as a project
manager..ugh...
