Dear Friend, We must never forget at what great a price our salvation comes. The sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ is a gift to mankind that should be thought upon often. The Lord loved humanity so greatly that in order to save them from their sins, He willingly took upon Himself the sins of all the world for all time and died so that we might be justified and live eternally through His shed blood. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:22 without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. He shed His Blood taking upon Himself our sins and dying in our stead so that in the fullness of time we who trust in His sacrifice will be made righteous before God the Father. The Lord Jesus Christ was beaten, ridiculed, mocked and crucified on a cross left to die between two thieves. (Galatians 4:3-7) (John 19:1-6) The Creator was crucified by His creation so that He may redeem us from our sins and save us from an eternity in hell. The Love that Jesus showed on the Cross of Calvary can never be fully understood, yet thankfully exists and is offered to everyone who simply calls upon His Name. (Ephesians 1:3-14) I hope this message ministers to your heart and encourages you to trust for yourself the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. THE ADOPTED LAMBS The beautiful, green hills of New Zealand, a country known for its sheep industry, are dotted everywhere with white sheep. During the yearly lambing season, thousands of baby lambs are born. Unfortunately, some lambs die at birth. Many mother sheep are also lost during lambing season; they die giving birth. In an attempt to save the orphaned lambs, the shepherds match baby lambs that have lost their mothers with mother sheep who have lost their lambs. It's not as easy as it sounds, though, since a mother sheep won't accept a lamb and nurse it unless it is her own. How, then, do shepherds get a mother sheep to accept an orphaned lamb as her own? The process is as old as shepherding itself. The mother's own lamb, which has died, is skinned, and the skin of the dead lamb is draped over the living lamb as it is placed by the adoptive mother's side. The mother sheep then smells the skin and blood and accepts the orphaned lamb as her own. Lambing season in New Zealand reminds us of what was done for us on a cross two thousand years ago. When the Apostle John wrote of being saved by "the blood of the Lamb," it was in terms that people in agrarian societies vividly understood. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians, "But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the Blood of Christ. For He... has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility..." Because of Christ's blood, God accepts us as His own. Once we were orphans, but now we are God's adopted children. Author Unknown Read and meditate on these scriptures: 1 Corinthians 11:24-26 "And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant between God and you, sealed by the shedding of my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it." For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord's death until he comes again." Romans 8:14-16 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." Revelation 12:10-11 "And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." 1 John 1:5-7 "This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin." All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible. There are many moments in life when we rush through our daily routines without showing interest and care in what others around us are doing. We must always keep in mind that we are living testimonies unto the Lord and the life that we live is a reflection of whom we Love and call Savior and Lord. The Lord Jesus declares in John 13:35 "By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another." Be encouraged to shine the light that is within you and show by your actions that you are a representative of Christ on the earth. (Philippians 2:2-7) (Matthew 5:16) I hope you are encouraged by this story to take special interest in others and show the spirit of God that lives within you. A MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade. "Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello." I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy. Author Unknown How many times in our life have we passed by someone that we've seen on a daily basis without even acknowledging them? This should never be the case because as a child of God we are called to take special interest in all people and show the Love of God through our lives. The Bible declares in Philippians 2:2-3 "Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself." (Galatians 6:1-4) (Philippians 2:5-9) (Romans 10:15) We are to keep the love of God at the center of our lives and care for our neighbor as we do for ourselves. We read in 1 John 4:20 "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" Be encouraged to take the time to be kind and considerate showing the Love of God towards everyone in your path. (Colossians 3:8-17) (Romans 13:13-14) Read and meditate on these scriptures: Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus says, "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." 1 John 4:7-11 "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another." Galatians 6:2-4 "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another." All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
