Dear Friend, We have all struggled with hard times at one time or another in our lives and one thing is universal in those hardships; we have all learned from and became stronger because of that trial or tribulation that we went through. It is important now that we use the negative that once brought us pain and turn it around for good for the betterment of others. We can use the hardship that we went through to comfort someone else who may be going through a similar situation and extend the light that is within us to ease the hurt and pain of that one going through the hardship. Never think that you can't use the past to bring comfort to someone else in this present time because if we allow Him to, God will use our past to benefit others in ways that we have never imagined or thought possible. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18) I hope you are blessed and encouraged by today's message to see that no matter what you went through in the past; you still have the ability to use that trial to bring help and blessing to someone in need of it. HER ARM'S Bob Butler lost his legs in a 1965 land mine explosion in Vietnam. He returned home a war hero. Twenty years later, he proved once again that heroism comes from the heart. Butler was working in his garage in a small town in Arizona on a hot summer day; when he heard a woman's screams coming from a nearby house. He began rolling his wheelchair toward the house but the dense shrubbery wouldn't allow him access to the back door. So he got out of his chair and started to crawl through the dirt and bushes. "I had to get there", he says. "It didn't matter how much it hurt". When Butler arrived at the pool there was a three-year-old girl named Stephanie Hanes lying at the bottom. She had been born without arms and had fallen in the water and couldn't swim. Her mother stood over her baby screaming frantically. Butler dove to the bottom of the pool and brought little Stephanie up to the deck. Her face was blue; she had no pulse and was not breathing. Butler immediately went to work performing CPR to revive her while Stephanie's mother telephoned the fire department. She was told the paramedics were already out on a call. Helplessly, she sobbed and hugged Butler's shoulder. As Butler continued with his CPR, he calmly reassured her. Don't worry, he said. "I was her arms to get out of the pool. It'll be okay. I am now her lungs. Together we can make it". Seconds later the little girl coughed, regained consciousness, and began to cry. As they hugged and rejoiced together the mother asked Butler how he knew it would be okay. The truth is, "I didn't know", he told her. "But when my legs were blown off in the war, I was all alone in a field. No one was there to help except a little Vietnamese girl. As she struggled to drag me into her village, she whispered in broken English, 'It okay. You can live. I be your legs. Together we make it'". Her kind words brought hope to my soul and I wanted to do the same for Stephanie. There are simply those times when we cannot stand alone. There are those times when we need someone to be our legs, our arms, our friend. Author Unknown Read and meditate on these scriptures: Galatians 6:1-4 "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another." 1 John 3:16-18 "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." 1 Corinthians 12:26-28 "And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues." Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." We must never believe the lie that we are alone in our troubles because whether we realize it or not we have family and friends all around us that are more than willing to hear our troubles and lend a helping hand to lighten the burden that is in our life. (Psalm 142:4) (Job 2:11) We must realize that the love that surrounds us is vast and we are to keep in mind that there is help at every corner that we turn. Never think that you are alone and that nobody cares about what you're going through because even if you don't realize it right now, you are loved beyond comprehension and are never alone in the trials that come your way. (Jeremiah 31:3) I hope you are blessed and encouraged by today's message to see that you are not alone in your problems, but there is always someone close to you who is willing to make your burden a little lighter. YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND Often people say to me "You just won't understand." "You're way too old," or "Way too young," or "You are not a man." I don't know why some people feel they suffer unique pain. As if they are the only ones who've lost or ceased to gain. I don't know why they hide their pain and clutch it ever tighter. It seems to me that all should know - a burden shared gets lighter. Why some folks even deign to think the pain that's in their heart, Is all their own, to keep and hoard, they set themselves apart. They keep their eyes from meeting mine lest I should see their hurt. And even if we stop and speak their words are often curt. The Bible says: 'Two' can withstand what overcomes just 'one'. And also that - a 'Cord of Three' can scarcely be undone. Besides, I know the ways of hurt - My heart's been crushed before. Friends have betrayed - I've lost at love, Despair's knocked at my door. And I Remember - Thoughts gone wild - And crying late at night. Not having strength to care at all - Much less the strength to fight. But, someone special came to me - And when my trials were told. I realized that with their tears - They'd eased my heavy load. And so, I learned - that Pain - like Love - Is bearable if shared. I don't know what I would have done without that friend who cared. My trials did not vanish fast - In fact the time was long. But sharing gave me breathing space until I could grow strong enough to laugh again and even start to smile - And though it seemed it could not help - It eased my pain awhile. So, if you think that you can't share because I won't understand. At least just give me half a chance to lend a helping hand. For I know that you're hurting and I know a place to start. Perhaps if you could realize - Your pain burns in my heart. I know I cannot make your trials and troubles go away. But maybe I can help a bit to get you through today. And maybe by tomorrow you won't need help anymore. But if you should - Don't be ashamed - For that's what friends are for. And after all is said and done - The trials ceased - You're whole. Perhaps you'll know just what to do to help another soul - Who's being crushed by hurt and pain - be it woman or a man. And you won't have to hear them say "You just won't understand." Author Unknown Read and meditate on these scriptures: Psalm 30:2-5 "O LORD my God, I cried unto Thee, and Thou hast healed me. O LORD, Thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His Holiness. For His anger endureth but a moment; in His favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but Joy cometh in the morning." Romans 15:1-4 "We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not Himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." Psalm 142:4-7 "I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. I cried unto Thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I. Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Thy Name: the righteous shall compass me about; for Thou shalt deal bountifully with me."
