Since you didn't say I assume you're using Jetspeed 1.1. I'd advise you
to checkout a current CVS image and use that instead as there are a LOT of
bug fixes and new features in the CVS and since we're nearing release, it's quite
stable.

That would mean the content file you use could not be parsed or generated an error :
Try:
- stop jetspeed
- clear the jetspeed cache 
- start jetspeed
- try to access jetspeed
- if it works, your cache was corrputed by previous experiments ;  if it
  doesn't work, check in the cache and look for the portlet.xml cahced image for
  parsing/fetch error.

If everythiong seems OK, look in the jserv.log and mod_jserv.log for 
indications.

You should really upgrade to the latest jetspeed, it will be a more satisfying
experience...
