OK, this is kind of a weird request, but it will help keep the peace in this household. :-) My husband *insists* that we need to keep the toilet plunger next to the toilet at all times. (Our toilet tends to back up periodically - like maybe once a month). I can't see the importance of keeping it right there, since we don't use it that often. How hard is it to run down to the basement once a month??? Besides, it's just ugly to look at every day! But in the interests of harmony, I've agreed that we can keep it there, if we can find a way to hide it. There is no room for it in the vanity or hidden behind the toilet. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can disguise this ugly thing, and still keep it accessible for those Monthly Emergency Toilet Back-Ups?
And on a related note, our vanity is *extremely* small. In our old house, I was able to keep all our regularly used toiletries, our backup supplies, and infrequently used items in the vanity, but now I don't have room for much more than the basics, and even then, they're aren't easily accessible. So I bought a set of those shelves that fit over the toilet, and they are just fine. But all that stuff just piled on shelves doesn't look very neat. Does anyone have any thoughts on what I can do to make things more presentable and organized? I've got half a mind to just take the load of stuff down to the basement, and put some nice baskets of flowers and potpourri on the shelves, but the basement is already starting to fill up with boxes. I'd like to develop some storage upstairs, but I'm just not that creative! I did get rid of quite a bit of our stash of extra toiletries. I know I can get rid of more, and I intend to do that, but I still need some attractive (and frugal?) storage ideas for what's left. Help! :-) Pam.
