I would be interested to know how well you think WE performs in relation to
JAWS on web-sites, and on difficult to navigate pages. I have a tril
version of WE on my machine right now, and appreciate you sending the links
to the tutorials.

Two or more screen readers can exist on the same computer but you should
make Window-Eyes during the install to be set to not start up nor at the log
on screen. Checkboxes for these two should be unchecked so you will not have
two screen readers boot up at the same time. Look for the tutorial on how to
do a Window-Eyes custom installation.

Yes, you can use Eloquence synthesizer with Window-Eyes.

I strongly recommend reading the tutorials or listening to the MP3s on how
to use Window-Eyes first.

Key hotkeys,
ctrl-/ brings up the Window-Eyes control panel
ctrl-insert-F4 allows you shut down window-eyes insert=-t for the time
ctrl-shift-t for the title bar ctrl-shift-r for read to end of document
ctrl-shift-w read dialog ctrl-shift-s summary message, use while in a list
view for example

It will take time to learn this screen reader. They have a JAWS layout but I
am using the default layout.

I have been using this screen reader for two days now but if it were not for
the audio tutorials I would have not done so.

Subject: Jaws To Window Eyes

Hello, again.

In an attempt to have an alternative to Jaws, I'm seriously considering
putting Window Eyes on at least one computer here.

However, I have heard from several sources that having two screen readers on
the same computer can create real issues, if things are not done properly.

Also, can I configure Window Eyes to work with Elloquence, which is what
Jaws currently uses?

Finally, I'd like to know how much of a learning curve is going to be
involved with learning to use Window Eyes, especially since I have been a
Jaws user for about the last 20 years.

My time to learn a new speech screen reader is limited, although I will
certainly try to do so if it would be in my best interest.

If this post is considered to be "off topic" for this list, I want to
apologize in advance to the moderator and other list members. I simply
don't know where else to ask this question, given the various e-mail lists
to which I belong.

Sincerely,
Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan
