Thanks Adrian,

I likely have tried these ideas in the past, but will do so systematically next time I pick a work project. I'm usually looking for that control while a time clock is ticking and trying to submit work before getting it marked as a late turn-in. I haven't had the chance to try again with the latest Jaws and NVDA, so hopefully one of these ideas wil work next chance I get.

Thanks to you and Dan for your thoughts.

Jean

On activating a button invisible to JAWS, have you tried pressing b in case JAWS takes you there anyway? Or searching with the JAWS cursor? Knowing you, yes, but those are two methods I'd be trying.

Going with Dan's idea, when you fall into for

s mode with the other button, have you pressed the PC cursor to take you out of forms mode? After that, you might try experimenting with the enter key and arrow keys.

Incidentally, no need to explain why you'd want to keep a private webpage private. So many problems come up on pages we can't share.

Hi Adrian,

Not sure I want to make it public, as it's a work site that I log onto.
Folks would then have access to my work and pay history, etc. lol. Not that
it's much right now. But just the same.

There is also another control used to upload files from this work site, and
JAWS simply cannot see the control. I know I accidentally managed to do it
once, but have no idea how I did it. It's like an invisible buttoj. Is
anyone aware of how to find and/or label controls that seem to be invisible
but that can be activated if one gets lucky with a click location?

Jean,

I encounter a control that sounds similar on a website that requires you to
log in. there's an item that used to be a link but that is now activated by
the spacebar. It purports to contain a menu, but if it does, it consists of
only one item, which is the same as the control's label. To activate it
after pressing the spacebar, I press enter and am taken to the page I want.

Thinking about your description, there may be one or two differences. I'm
not sure. Could you give the link to the page in question so that people can
take a look?

I’m having problems with a web page control. Having Jaws spell its label, it
says Options. Jaws reads the control as Options Button Menu Collapsed. I can
get into this menu with the spacebar. Jaws then turns on forms mode. I’m
told to activate the menu with spacebar, and navigate using the arrows. No
go. If I’m lucky, I can hear one item, but I definitely can’t navigate this
control or make choices from the menu. Any ideas?

Jean
