Thanks Gary,

Just for the record, I've also found controls that are not spoken as Jaws moves down the page, but if I go past it and arrow back up, it speaks and I can access it. I find that strange. I'll add your ideas into my try list the next time I am hunting for that elusive control, though.

Thanks.

Jean,
You might try pressing b for button. Sometimes, buttons are not labeled
properly. Another possibility is that the control is a graphic. Go into
Quick Settings with JAWS Key v and type graphics into the search box. Under
Graphics Options, set JAWS to show all graphics. You can cycle through the
graphics on a web page by pressing g repeatedly. You may have to experiment
by clicking on various graphics with the JAWS Cursor to see what happens.

Hi Adrian,

Not sure I want to make it public, as it's a work site that I log onto. Folks would then have access to my work and pay history, etc. lol. Not that it's much right now. But just the same.

There is also another control used to upload files from this work site, and JAWS simply cannot see the control. I know I accidentally managed to do it once, but have no idea how I did it. It's like an invisible buttoj. Is anyone aware of how to find and/or label controls that seem to be invisible but that can be activated if one gets lucky with a click location?

Jean

Jean,

I encounter a control that sounds similar on a website that requires you to log in. there's an item that used to be a link but that is now activated by the spacebar. It purports to contain a menu, but if it does, it consists of only one item, which is the same as the control's label. To activate it after pressing the spacebar, I press enter and am taken to the page I want.

Thinking about your description, there may be one or two differences. I'm not sure. Could you give the link to the page in question so that people can take a look?

I’m having problems with a web page control. Having Jaws spell its label, it says Options. Jaws reads the control as Options Button Menu Collapsed. I can get into this menu with the spacebar. Jaws then turns on forms mode. I’m told to activate the menu with spacebar, and navigate using the arrows. No go. If I’m lucky, I can hear one item, but I definitely can’t navigate this control or make choices from the menu. Any ideas?

Jean
