In trying to describe how I feel it should work, I started playing around with the Search function again. And on reflection, perhaps there isn't really anything that can be done to improve things within the constraints of the hardware. I think possibly the way I will use Search on the Jive will be to select just the first letter, then pick from the artists listed on the next screen. A slight issue here is that it finds all artists where any word starts with the given letter. For example, if I search on "P", it shows "Deep Purple" as well as "Pink Floyd". I'd expect to search on "D" to get "Deep Purple". Perhaps what might help is if there was an additional option in SqueezeCenter's "Search Within Words" setting: as well as "Search Beginning of Words" and "Search Within Words", a new option of "Search Beginning of First Word Only" might be worthwhile?
