Shortly after I received a beta test Duet package, my wireless access point turned up its toes. So while I'm waiting for a replacement to arrive, I thought I'd try out the Duet's capability to work without a wired network, with the SBC and SBR in ad-hoc mode.
However, I can't seem to get anywhere. I had previously set up the SBC with the old wireless network (which is no longer available). It's currently on firmware r1841, and the behaviour I'm about to describe happened both before and after a factory reset of the SBC. The SBR is, of course, connected to the network via wired Ethernet. After invoking "Set Up Receiver" on the SBC, there is no SBR listed, so I press the button until it starts blinking red. At this point, it is listed on the SBC as "Squeezebox 160126". So far so good. I select it, and it asks how it should connect to the network. If I pick "ethernet", it says "problem connecting" with the message "Couldn't connect your squeezebox to your wireless network. Make sure it is within range of your wireless network". (That seems a rather strange message when I'd just told it to connect via ethernet, but no matter). If I choose "Try Again", the same thing happens. Note: I know for certain that there's a DHCP server running on the network. If I choose "Skip this step", I am returned to the Advanced menu. OK, let's try again, this time choosing the "wireless" option on the "Wireless Connection" screen: nothing happens (which isn't surprising). Meanwhile, if I fire up the SqueezeCenter web interface the SBR is shown (with the name I gave it back when I first set it up using the old wireless network), and it works fine: I can play stuff through the SBR. So, is there some other step I'm missing when attempting to get Duet working as an ad-hoc pair in an otherwise wired-only network? -- cliveb Transporter -> ATC SCM100A ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43581 _______________________________________________ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/jive
