I had tried that, many times, and up to now it hadn't made any
difference - I never saw "connect using squeezebox". But I just tried
it again, did a fresh reboot of the SBC, forced it to go via "restart
setup" and now I'm in business. Interestingly, SC7.0 has remembered the
name I originally gave to the SBR ("Test") - presumably it must keep a
record of MAC addresses somewhere?

Anyhow, it's now updated the firmware to r1977 and everything seems to
be working well. If anything, using the SBR as an "ad-hoc access point"
for the SBC gives slightly better signal strength than the old Netgear
WAP I had been using. It's nice to see that the SBR still operates as
the AP for the SBC even when it's turned off (so that the SBC can
control other players).

So kudos to Slim Devices for providing this facility. It means that
users without a wireless network (they do exist!) can still use the SBC
to control their players.
