I'm also suprised by the very short life time of the controller, a couple of hours, never more than half a day. I'm running recent 7.0 trunk svn checkouts.
The controller is on a desk that frequently "moves", waking up the controller often wake up while I'm not using it, I also rather frequently hold the remote to check the song currently playing.
