ok, now I understand.  I will say with confidence that server does not seem to 
matter.  I see failure with copies of JmolApplet on my server, but coming from 
different directories :-(.


but I'm curious - has anyone tested the effect of renaming the applet jar file 
itself?  I always use code="JmolApplet".  I think this is a next step to take 
in narrowing down the problem...
