Thanks, Miguel, especially for the ZIP option.

About connect/wireframe. Maybe I wasn't clear.

wireframe SINGLE, DOUBLE, AROMATIC, etc.

makes good sense. Just like wireframe ON/OFF, we aren't defining bonds, just
tweaking how they are displayed (at least from a user perspective).

I was only suggesting

wireframe DELETE

should be

connect DELETE

because that, like other connect commands, can do permanent "damage" to a model.

Now we have

connect SINGLE ....

and this makes no sense, or at least (even) I was fooled just now and surprised that
it did not actually CONNECT the atoms specified.

I suppose the best solution is something like:

select carbon
CONNECT 1.2 (hydrogen) SINGLE
CONNECT 1.3 (all) DOUBLE
CONNECT 1.6 (all) SINGLE

and not use

CONNECT SINGLE
CONNECT DOUBLE

at all.

Would you like me to try my hand at this, now that I know how to compile Jmol?

Jmol prerelease 10.00.48 is now available for download from:

 www.jmol.org/files

This version includes the following:

- Support for Catalan localization
  (Thanks to Toni for the translation and Nico for integration)
- change of some commands from WIREFRAME -> CONNECT (see below)
- binary distribution .zip format as well as a .tar.gz

Catalan support
===============
Toni Hermoso Pulido provided a Catalan localization of Jmol for the
Catalan speakers centered around Barcelona in northeast Spain.

As usual, Nico did an excellent job of quickly integrating this in.

wireframe -> connect
====================

Commands for deleting bond connectivity and for changing bond order have
been removed from WIREFRAME and are now available under CONNECT.

connect delete; # replaces wireframe delete
connect single|double|triple|aromatic|hbond; # replace wireframe

examples:

set bondmode and;
select <some-set-of-atoms>;
# NO LONGER SUPPORTED: wireframe delete;
connect delete;

select <some-other-set-of-atoms>;
# NO LONGER SUPPORTED: wireframe double;
connect double;

wireframe continues to be used for on/off and for selecting a bond
diameter for display.

.zip binary distribution
========================
This prerelease includes the distribution in .zip format for Windows users.

The .tar.gz format is the recommended for all platforms, including
Windows, because the .tar file format correctly preserves file
permissions. This is important for OSX/Linux/Unix systems as well as most
Windows XP systems (which use the NTFS file system).

In the future, if .zip files cause support issues because of file
permissions then the distribution of .zip files may be discontinued.
