First, I'm ok whatever people think about selection halos. Right now they are not hidden, but that's just because I put a certain line of code in a certain place. Paul, I also wonder about your use of selection halos. Regular halos are much more useful. Is it possible you have not thought of using the new "halo" option? I would think selection halos would be of very limited use.
That said, I can't think of a good reason to have the selection halos visible if everything else about the atom is hidden. So, Paul, I'm guessing you are using something like: display cell=555 #just that central cell display all Then you also want to highlight what people have selected, and after they have selected, you want them to be able to change the display and see more/less of the same selection. Ah.... Two options: 1) I change it so selection halos hide 2) You use regular halos instead of selection halos Ah, but if they use the menu, right? Then (2) is not an option. I just made an argument for (1). Another argument for (1) is that we also don't show atoms that are selected in non-displayed models using the model/frame commnad, but they are there. I've convinced myself that selections halos should be hidden. Any objections?
