Hi Rolf,

Thanks for reminding me of portable apps - I used to discuss these, and Firefox 
in particular, with students but for some reason I seem to have dropped this in 
the last few years. Of course the first challenge is to ensure they all bring a 
portable device! Or I can invest in a box of cheap USB sticks and hand them out.

You could use 'Firefox portable'
(http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable) if you are
allowed to do so. It doesn't need any installation on a computer. It is
usually prepared in a directory on a portable device like an USB stick.
 From there it can be started on any computer with an operating system
compatible to the program binary.
