As much as I hate to see the persecution of innocent people anywhere, I think
it's important to point out that anti-foreign sentiment is by no means solely
an American phenomenon. I know of a local boy who just graduated from high
school last month and went to England to visit a friend. The boy is
Armenian-American and his friend is Indian. They were mistaken for Arabs and
then attacked and badly beaten by a mob in London.
I think the US and Britain are probably two of the safer places in the world
in which to be a foreigner, but there are idiots everywhere. I guess one
thing haters have in common -- wherever they live -- is that they all tend to
be dumb as rocks. Call me crazy, but I know that if I ever hated any group
enough to go around committing acts of violence, I would at least make sure
my victims were members of the group I was gunning for!
