Hi Mags -

I was tired last night and should have articulated better. I have added
below an article from the Globe and Mail which ran the poll. It was actually
84% who thought the US was at least partly responsible for the attacks.
Part of my point was that the poll was so broad as to be deceptive. If you
look at that broad question you could conceivably have 100% agreeing with
it. But it doesn't provide the detailis as to specifically "what" or "how"
one felt the US was responsible. I could answer it and say because of our
lax intelligence and immigration policies and not necessarily because the US
is so evil in the world, as some would like to promote, I believe. But the
effect of those numbers hitting you cold can easily make an American think
all kinds of things. There were some heated news shows the past few days
here about it. There were a few Canadian journalists who were interviewed
and they said not to take it as negatively as it looked. The link is too
long to post but if you want to read the article at the Globe and Mail you
can bring it up on a search. Here it is:

Ipsos-Reid takes issue with Harper criticism
By SHAWN MCCARTHY

Ottawa -- Polling firm Ipsos-Reid is threatening to sue Canadian Alliance
Leader Stephen Harper over criticisms made on U.S. television of one of its
polls.

In an appearance on Fox News last week, Mr. Harper dismissed an Ipsos-Reid
poll -- carried in The Globe and Mail and on CTV -- in which 84 per cent of
respondents said that the U.S. was at least partly responsible for the Sept.
11 terrorist attacks. Mr. Harper responded by saying Liberal pollsters get
Liberal results. Ipsos-Reid vice-president John Wright said the firm is
demanding a full retraction from Mr. Harper, saying it has absolutely no
ties with any political party.
