I'm thinking that "Joni's favorite" was actually Joni's favorite
painting by Mayall. Since they met later in life than the painting
was created she probably looked at his work at some point (both
musicians, both love art, it seems logical she'd stop by to check out
his portfolio) and this was her favorite piece.
Just my opinion since the woman in the piece doesn't look much like
Joni to me.
