That was in response to the idea that they hold it back a version. (I have not verified that). I did find the "have to register for the JDBC driver" to be a bit of an annoying feature.

Ok, so before I completely get blamed for starting any kind of rumor, I've emailed Frank with IBM who gave the presentation and asked what the difference between Derby and Cloudscape really is. I'll post it as soon as I get it.
