Hi, I have just started to translate Kosmo into Finnish (about 5400 strings). It is a pleasure just to edit, save the saig_fi.properties file, restart Kosmo and see the results immediately. Translating OpenJUMP is not such a big deal now because it is usually just adding a handful of translations but I do not really enjoy the extract-edit-repack workflow even I know well how to do it.

The i18n code is OJ's own code (see com.vividsolutions.jump.I18N). No external library. As I can see Java default ResourceBundle stuff is used. So it is easy to load the property file from the jar or from the filesystem. The files must simply be placed in the classpath. Then it will be loaded automatically. My point of view is, that this is less a technical problem. It's more a organizational problem. Should the translators can commit or via one of us with commit grants. (ede's comment to the developer tools...) Makes it sense to translate outside of the development respectively independent from it.
