hmmm. ... thanks for the info. however i am still confused.

I set up my k9 exactly as you suggested via the link. no port other than 25 
worked for me for sending mails. i dont think there is a port blocking 
problem however. and both live.com and yahoo.com say explicitly that their 
smptp settings must be configured for port 465 or 587

please answer one more thing .. since i am using port-25 (even while 
choosing TLS) on k9 and no extra special settings, are my passwords sent 
using plain text ?
