to elaborate ... does the authentication process for smtp is separate from 
the regular interaction of sending mails ? is authentication a part of 
port-25, 465 or 587 ? if i use any security method (TLS/SSL/STARTTLS) does 
it encrypt only the authentication or only the sent mail or both ? or is 
that security method totally separate from sent mail msg ? if so, how is 
the login information kept secure ? is it that first a login is done via 
some form of secure shell, then a cookie is set for some time and then the 
encrypted body of mail is sent/recieved ?
