OK, this may at first sound a little strange. I need to change the net
associated with a trace after the trace is drawn.
Why would I need to do this you ask? Good question there from the back row.
If a trace is created but not connected to anything initially, it can never be
connected to something later because it is assigned to net 0.
The same thing can happen to a via used to connect a pad to an inner zone (say
a VCC layer). I had this happen to me recently when I had to move a footprint
that disconnected several traces. When I tried to reconnect the new pad
positions to the original traces and/or vias, the DRC checking would not let me
do it because the original trace was now in net 0 instead of retaining the
original net name.
Has anyone else run across this? Any work-arounds other than digging through
the .BRD file and hand-correcting it?
Thoughts? Suggestions?
My thought would be to allow the user to right-click a track and set the net it
was associated with. Has this been considered? Am I the only person to make
such mistakes?
Thanks,
Greg
