I'm the developer of the toporouter which is (a hidden) part of gEDA. I should 
point out it isn't a WAND project (just me), and it isn't being commercialised. 
Since I am a student, the time I spend working on the toporouter is 
intermittent.

I agree. The toporouter should be extracted from PCB and use an interface like 
specctra. I'll get to it eventually, but if someone wanted to collaborate, that 
would be great (please contact me).
