Uppercase is ugly (an opinion that I think is shared by 98% of
computer users, with the remaining 2% being the folks that were used
to mainframes that only had uppercase).

I just took a look at the HTML 4.01 standard. The *standards document*
uses upper case tags, because they thought it was more readable. But,
it very clearly states that the tags are case insensitive. I can think
of no good reason to actually serialize to upper case by default given
that.

David can make the final call on this, but the reason I had heard for
the upper case treatment was that the standard said to do that...
since that doesn't appear to be a real reason, maybe we should tweak
this.
