IBM ThinkPad T22 with DVD drive for $399, visit http://www.woot.com
right now.
If you aren't familiar with woot!, it's a website that sells one product
a day. The product is available until 1) inventory is sold; 2) 24 hours
passes.
They frequently have good refurb products such as this IBM. It's an
excellent laptop and fully Linux friendly. Neil has one, ask him. :)
There seem to be a lot of good deals around on ThinkPads lately.
Saturday I bought a ThinkPad A30 (P3 1.0 Ghz, 256 MB RAM, DVD) from
ComputerGeeks in Oceanside (www.geeks.com) for $349. At that time they
had over 100 of these in stock. (This particular ThinkPad is a "walk-in
special" - it is not shown on the website, although they have lots of
other ThinkPads.)
It comes with no OS, which I consider a plus. Since I got it, I have
tried about 8 different Linux distros on it, which is great fun. It is
indeed Linux friendly - I haven't encountered any show-stopping problems
with any of them.
