You have to move your hand around to move the ball....
now your fingers are not in a position to press the button!?!

Not true with the Logitech TrackMan Marble FX (the original model
anyway). In fact this trackball is good enough for circle strafing
almost as good as a mouse.
It has three thumb buttons positioned such that you never have to move
your hand.
