The "Next Big Thing" may be here: e-Ink books. Sony has begun selling an e-Ink book reader for about $350

And "began" "selling" them for about $350 2 years ago.

e-Ink always seems to be "just around the corner".

It isn't just slow to update, it takes a *ton* of power to update.

If you are going to give me a black and white, it better be 300dpi+. The best I have seen is 800x600 on a 6" diagonal. Yuk.

EInk is a nice, solid, niche, one product company spun up into a $120 million venture captial scam.

I have consulted for two companies that tried to get sample product out of them. After the initial contact, the excuses start.

Hopefully OLED's on flexible substrates will come online soon and send EInk back to the venture capital scrap heap.
