nothing I can do about it, no such BIOS option.

I find that really hard to believe. I can't remember the last time I saw a modern (i.e. <3 yrs. old) mobo that didn't have such an option.

o Sometimes it's listed under "Peripherals".
o Make sure you go through each menu entry.
o Make sure you scroll down on all BIOS Setup pages. It's not always
  obvious this is possible, but is often the case.
