How can I rip all the frames of a movie?
'mplayer  -vo jpeg Koyaanisqatsi.vob'

Try 'mplayer -vo help'
I looked at that help output. It seems to just indicate CPU info and
the formats mplayer can output. I chose jpeg (like your example) and
got this:

$ mplayer -vo jpeg /media/EVERAFTER169/VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_1.VOB

The source of your problem is right here. You cannot just copy a VOB
file off a DVD and expect it to play nor can you play a mounted DVD
without some extra options.

I'm barely even a newbie on this topic. But as of this moment, I'm able to play the mounted DVD without extra options.
$ mplayer dvd://1

I even added the switch to dump to jpg files, but apparently my system is a tad underpowered to do that without a hitch. Still, it seems that the video is still dumping every frame to jpg files. I hear audio, altho choppy. I don't exactly need the audio, altho it is a good indicator of how far along it is in the movie since dumping the video to jpg files takes away the visual.

The DVD does not need to be mounted to play. To play the first piece of
the DVD, do this:

$ mplayer -fs -dvd-device /dev/dvd dvd://1

where the options have the following meaning:

-fs Full screen

Is this as opposed to widescreen? I definitely want widescreen. Currently, without any such option, I'm getting widescreen.

-dvd-device Specifies the actual DVD device. On my system it is a
symlink that is automatically created by udev.
dvd:// The specifier for the DVD program to play. DVD's can have
multiple programs broken up into chapters.

I didn't know any of that stuff. Thank you, Gus, among others.

All of this information is available in the man page. I recommend
reading the man page online at
<http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/man/en/mplayer.1.html> because it's easier
to read there than on a console due to its length. In particular, I
recommend reading the examples at the end of the page.

Yes, the length of that man page is rather daunting. Now that I'm on my way, I'll try going thru it again.

Thanks to all who have contributed.
