If it's a DVD, I'd stick with 'mplayer dvd://1'. The number changes
for which title you want to play. If it's the contents of a DVD
dumped to filesystem then use the -dvd-device switch. In all cases,
make sure mplayer will play it before using the jpeg video out
feature.
