Ok folks, here is my problem. I have a laptop that uses a NETGEAR USB wireless card. It works fine on my home netwsork with a NETGEAR router using DHCP.
I take it out to my favorite coffee house, It's A Grind Coffee House 1601 India St, San Diego, CA and try it out. I get hooked up to 169.254.8.1 which looks odd to me, but I can ping it just fine. Then I cannot get any DNS service. A little Googling back home and I find ZeroConf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeroconf I will continue Googling to see if I can find some missing software ... but can any one give me a quick "How To" here?
