This could be a nice setup for a LTSP configuration if one system was bumped up a little bit in the RAM area. You know, "look ma, no HD". Another option to the presentations might be screencasts which were displayed and someone was there to answer questions about it and maybe help with other questions interested parties might have. This way, we not only start generating a great training library but also, as a group, build a system streamlining the screencasting process. Like another project which was brought up to help school educators more easily do their own screencasts. It also allows us to edit and become more skilled in this and nobody has to feel like they are standing in front of 30 people watching them mess up. All the same scheduling and planning would be required just that the presentations would be built before hand and possibly by more than one person.
