I hate to say this, but could this possibly be because Macs are now so damn easy to use that support networks are kind of superfluous? :) Basically, I've got several macs myself, and between google, versiontracker.com, macosx.com and macosxhints.com, I haven't yet had a good reason to actually go to an SDMUG meeting. Not to mention their abhorrence of mailing lists and seeming fetish for web-based forums simply rubs me the wrong way. But that's all personal rubbish and too politicy for constructive discussion, so we'll just drop it there. :) > I think it's time for Neil to contact the other SIG leaders and arrange a > special meeting with Claude. SDMUG has to realize that they're not just casting off a useless and empty beaurocratic paper organization. Any action by any of the SIGs to either disband or split away from SDCS would affect all other SIGs, though, admittedly, to varying degrees. I, too, am very confused as to why SDMUG perceives that they need to split from SDCS, especially as they're effectively in control of SDCS. If they cannot bend SDCS to suit their needs at this point, then I fail to see how creating a whole new organization will gain them any benefit. I, too, would love to have a meeting with those in SDMUG to have it explained to me why they feel they need to split off. All I really want to do is listen, and then have nice, calm discussions about it. Hopefully SDMUG wishes the same. Gregory -- Gregory K.
