Yep, got that working the way I wanted, Thanks Tracy. I wish that SmartFolders allowed you to store thing under them like a real directory, instead of having to put them inside a "real" directory and then hide it, to get what I want.
You're welcome. I think the problem with having a real directory that users can put things in is that you have to make that directory world writeable and then someone has to keep it tidy. If people store the things in their own homedirs they can still have control over their content and organize it how they like while allowing the published content to appear on the front page.
Expiration might work. Most of the job listing come to one of the people listed in contacts, in various formats. I find it easiest to just cut and paste and do minimal editing for display. Regular users never post jobs that I'm aware of.
Not sure how to do expiration but I seem to remember there being "effective dates" on plone content which might work. One of the reasons the plone guys implement all of this stuff with "smart-folders" and "recent changes" and making directories automatically appear as tabs in the navigation etc. etc. is to generate as much automatic navigation as possible and to make the content of the site as automatically discoverable as possible. So far in my use of plone at work and on my personal site it seems to do a fairly decent job.
