Flying today with the Heritage Flight Museum in morning taught me another 
valuable lesson about how sensitive the Aerocarb carburetor is.  It was 20 
degrees colder than it has been.  This combined with full power high speed runs 
down the runway as part of the show caused the engine to go lean and drop power 
on a climbout.   That was a bit of a surprise, but should not have been 
considering the RPM the engine was significantly higher than I normally fly 
(increased CFPM), it was colder than the carb needle was set at (denser air 
charge), and the problem only became apparent on the climbout (sudden increase 
in load to the engine forcing the leanness to become apparent).
 
1/2 turn more rich is in order as Fall arrives.  What a great real-world 
reminder for me to not forget to do this as it cools off.
