Except, of course, that a standard 6 foot character (e.g. Gordon Freeman) can 
fit exactly under something 72 units high :)

In practice, therefore, units essentially have a "fuzzy" scale.  Just depends 
on whether you're talking about the character (1 unit = 1 inch), or what's 
convenient for building structures (16 units = 1 foot) in the editor's grid.
