Initially just poking on the lack of action in the list I got a lot more info than I could've hoped for. Thanks for all the links, Jesse. So many knowledgeable people on this list (myself not included). Sucks there's not much going on here anymore.
I guess I'll just have to wait, indefinitely, to see if this list gets revived sometime around L4D's reincarnation. On a related note, when I played L4D2 the other day, I tried to join a map (urban flight?) that appeared in the list of VS games. Now this was a first for me... Highlighting the map entry in the list there on the right - iirc, the download link was*steam* something. Clicking that link immediately started downloading it in-game with a nbs snazzy black/white progress bar in the bottom-right, without taking me to some site. All without having to restart the game the map was playable...supposedly. Unfortunately, when it finished dling no one was playing the map anymore, of course... It was seamless, reminding me of the old quake days. A great (-ly expected) feature way too late. 'tis a pity. > Date: Fri, 11 Apr 2014 12:16:33 -0500 > From: wazanato...@gmail.com > To: l4dmapper@list.valvesoftware.com > Subject: Re: [L4Dmapper] L4Dmapper Digest, Vol 57, Issue 1 > > "Kind of dead yes, which forums do you refer to?" > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > Old Steam forums for L4D2 campaigns is still fairly active > http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=834 > > New Steam forums of course but it is a tad "polluted" like the workshop > http://steamcommunity.com/app/550/discussions/3/ > > Mapping in general for Source there's still at least 4 or so places I visit > regularly > > New SDK forums: http://steamcommunity.com/app/211/discussions/0/ > > Old SDK forums: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=193 > > Interlopers: http://www.interlopers.net/ > > Facepunch: http://facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38 > > Source Engine Subreddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/SourceEngine/ > > I'm sure there's others I've accidentally left out. > > > On Thu, Apr 10, 2014 at 11:45 AM, ics <i...@ics-base.net> wrote: > > > Kind of dead yes, which forums do you refer to? > > > > -ics > > > > Jesse Oak kirjoitti: > > > > Don't think so, most people just post on the forums though. > >> > >> > >> On Thu, Apr 10, 2014 at 8:58 AM, Hans Wakelin <yosshayo...@hotmail.com> > >> wrote: > >> > >> Happy New Year?? > >>> > >>> Is this mailing list dead? > >>> > >>> Best regards. > >>> > >>> Date: Mon, 16 Dec 2013 22:16:41 -0600 > >>>> From: hl2fr...@msn.com > >>>> To: l4dmapper@list.valvesoftware.com > >>>> Subject: Re: [L4Dmapper] L4Dmapper Digest, Vol 57, Issue 1 > >>>> > >>>> This is almost the exact discussion I was in when Alien Swarm was > >>>> > >>> released and people didn't play custom campaigns.
