If your doodle has lots of hair and it is deep into the canal, beyond the bend, rinsing with anything is not going to help. The hair traps everything. My standard poodle has this issue and we have to go in every six to eight months to the vet and have his ears totally cleared of all hair. He has to be anesthetized for the procedure.
 
I would ask your vet to take a better look and see if hair deep in the canal is the problem. If not, as someone pointed out you may a dog with an allergy.   One other cause might be that something like a foxtail is lodged deep in the canal.
