Hi Arachnids I teach traditional techniques (note the word traditional, not correct) and encourage my students to experiment with alternative techniques, including anything they think may improve their lace. My second rule of lacemaking is Your lace must be beautiful. I also recommend that if someone criticises her technique she should sit up straight, look down her nose and state firmly that it took time and effort to work out how to get the effect she wanted (even if it was a mistake in the first place). You would be surprised how many have come back to me saying it works.
Incidentally just last week I caught one of my students using a bobbin with the inscription YOU CAN FUDGE IT AS LONG AS TEACHER DOESN T SEE. Guess where she heard that? I must get one. Happy lacemaking. Alex - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected]. For help, write to [email protected].
