Rich,
I have a new project coming up and the timing may be just right for this.
So, I would like to throw my hat in as well for beta testing. Aside from
a business application itself, I will be constructing some frameworks/
services/ reusable components focused on 4 main areas:
* e-commerce (specifically making payments from Rich Internet Apps )
* security
* workflows
* mobile applications (ex... taking the Rich Internet experience to the
handset )
Having an easily understood IDE will definitely help with adoption. As
well, I would think having components that could easily be imported into
applications to deal with the drudgery like the above items would also help
the cause of adoption. Do you think that your IDE would support the
inclusion of prebuilt components? I am thinking of a recursive sort of
situation here where I could use your IDE to build some components that
then could later be included in your IDE. If there were a generic
facility for such a thing, the IDE could then grow quickly with very rich /
precanned components being added as each group/developer uses it and
contributes items to the IDE itself.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Wayne....

Hi Rich
We are in agreement that an IDE is very likely to spur Laszlo development
even further. I'm trying to find ways in which the IDE can actually help
reduce the learning curve. Over the last few days I've added a mechanism
to
index any locally-installed Laszlo documentation. The IDE can now provide
a
lookup to context-sensitive help based on the current element.
But of far more importance for learning Laszlo is the new Klein book from
Manning.
Thanks for the offer of beta testing. I'm sure I'll take you up on it. I
hope to have a beta ready in a couple of weeks.
