Others milage may vary in this, but I have found that one key component
of getting a high Google PageRank with my websites is getting them
listed in the Open Directory Project [1]. In fact, I found this to be so
critical that I eventually applied to become an editor, and for similar
reasons to those that you describe above, I ultimately became
responsible for the LDS category.

The problem is, there are far too many sites and categories for me to
keep up with, so there is a constant back-log of new sites to review.
Perhaps someone from your organization (or anyone on the list, for that
matter) would be interested in joining the ODP, and helping me list good
LDS sites, which will increase their global net visibility.
