Hi Andrew, I have just finished a complete clean download and build (took a while...) with latest sources and 2.6.35.7 kernel, and hostapd is still working for me with your config. My previous build was from 2010-10-16, 10:39 GMT, though that is probably not relevant now. If you still have problems after a clean build then perhaps there is something specific to your test hardware? My WiFi card is a Cisco AIR-P121AG-E-K9 PCI card.
