I think you're being a tad unfair to Gradel who should of been supporting
Paynter but instead was in the position of taking the attacking lead with
very little effective support from said Paynter. I don't expect a player
like Gradel to have to be constantly holding the ball up but otherwise
Paynter seemed rarely to get into positions to invite a cross or pass from
Gradel. That most of Gradel's crosses were overhit speculative efforts has a
lot to do with him not having a clear target to aim at.

>From the telly, Paynter only lost his marker once - a tribute to a very good
Arsenal defence certainly, but you should expect someone playing "lone
striker" to have an ability to get away from defenders on a regular basis.

I don't disagree with you about Parker - I was comparing him to his somewhat
unflattering list image that dates back to before he was injured....

Apart from the obvious class, I thought that the way Arsenal played was more
reminiscent of a lower league team. Very in-your-face, close down all the
space, play physical and run and run and run. I actually thought that their
centre-forward (Chalmk or summat?) made an immense contribution to their
victory by making sure there was no supplyline out of defence for Leeds.
Just like a lower league team would hope to do, the Arse stopped us playing
football. We should probably take that as a compliment ;)
